Charité University – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, one of Europe’s largest university hospitals and a leading global institution for medical research and education, is located in Berlin, the capital of Germany. Founded in 1710 as an infectious disease hospital to combat the plague, it was named “Charité” (French for “charity”) by King Frederick William I of Prussia in 1727. It is also one of Berlin’s largest employers, with 24,000 employees from 113 countries, fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
